More about this event:

To celebrate the launch of our "African-Print Fashion Now!" exhibition catalog, contributing essayist Stephan Miescher discusses how the cloths made by Akosombo Textiles Limited of Ghana (ATL) evolved from a low prestige commodity to an affordable and respected product, now threatened by market liberalization and globalization.

Miescher is Associate Professor of History at UC Santa Barbara.

Following the talk, stay for the African-Print Fashion Now! closing day celebration with a 3pm outdoor concert in the UCLA Art Council Amphitheatre.
